SiRT Still Actively Investigating Allegations Against Bridgewater Police Chief

It’s been five months and Bridgewater’s police chief continues to be away from his desk.

John Collyer is under investigation after allegations of sexual assault involving a teenage girl and obstruction of justice were brought forward to the Serious Incident Response Team in August by another police agency.

Collyer confirmed he was under investigation in late August and was put on administrative leave by the Bridgewater Board of Police Commissioners.

The director of SiRT, Ron MacDonald, says the investigation remains open.

A public report has to be filed within three months after the investigation closes.

SiRT is responsible for examining all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia.
