After what they are calling a ‘marathon day’ of bargaining with representatives from the IWK and Nova Scotia health, healthcare unions have reached a tentative agreement.
President of the NSGEU, Sandra Mullens says, it’s a good deal.
“The committee worked very hard to conclude this agreement and they deserve a great deal of credit for their efforts.
While, Karen MacKenzie, Acute Care Coordinator for CUPE says, the committee deserves congratulations.
“The unions will now prepare a document for the members to review and vote on.”
Healthcare minister Michelle Thompson says they came to the table in good faith and believe the deal is fair to the workers and taxpayers.
“We also believe this is a deal that will allow us to continue investing in important things like healthcare and housing.”
Voting on the agreement should begin next week.
Details of the agreement will not be released until the deal is ratified.
The Healthcare Council of Unions represents 9,000 health care professionals across Nova Scotia.
