There’s A Partial Lunar Eclipse Tonight

There will be a partial lunar eclipse tonight.

Here is the timeline from timeanddate.com:

  • 11:12pm: Partial moon eclipse starts – moon is getting red.
  • 11:44pm: Eclipse Moon is closest to the center of the shadow.
  • 12:15am: Partial Eclipse ends.

Here is an example (from timeanddate.com) of the percentage of obscuration. It will be a tiny little “bite” out of the moon.

That is not to say that the moon won’t be an impressive sight, it is also a Harvest Supermoon which appears larger and brighter than normal because it’s at the closest point to Earth during its orbit, making the moon look bigger than usual.

It will also likely look red or orange. If your curious why that happens, this article explains it.
