Highliner Seafoods rings opening bell for Canadian markets

Representatives from Highliner Seafoods opened the Canadian markets on Monday morning when they rang the opening bell for the Toronoto Stock Exchange at an event in Lunenburg.

Highliner was invited to ring the opening bell in recognition of their 125th anniversary which is being celebrated throughout 2024.

Lunenburg MLA Susan Corkum-Greek spoke at the event and emphasized how exciting of an opportunity it was, “It’s not every day that the Toronto Stock Exchange comes to your hometown to open the markets,”.

Highliner CEO Paul Jewer also spoke at the event and thanked the company’s staff and executives for their work and commitment, which have helped them stay in business. “We always want to put our people first because they are the ones that have helped make us so successful over the year,” Jewer said. “We are incredibly proud to be standing here today to celebrate this occasion with you and the country as we open the market.

Staff from the Toronto Stock Exchange at the event said that the Highliner event was the first in a series of remote opening bell ceremonies. Over the next year a handful of other Canadian corporations that trade on the exchange will host remote bell ringing events in an effort to raise their profile.
