‘CAT’ ferry passenger numbers up 28 percent in 2024

Nearly 11,000 more passengers took the ‘CAT’ ferry this year.

The Bay Ferries vessel that runs between Yarmouth and the U.S. carried 49,299 passengers.

It also had nearly 20,000 vehicles, that’s almost 4,600 more than 2023.

President and CEO Mark Wilson says it’s significant year-over-year growth.

He says next season’s schedule will be available to book in two weeks time.

This week, the province announced the vessel would continue to sail for the next two years, after that a new deal will be needed.
