Youth arrested after revealing plan to bring weapon to school: RCMP

West Hants RCMP have charged a youth with uttering threats at a high school.

At about 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday, officers got a call that a youth told other youths about bringing a weapon to school the next day to “target specific students,” according to a news release.

Police say they followed up with witnesses and then arrested the youth at a home that evening. When officers searched the home, they found a gun and two replica guns, along with “other evidence relevant to the investigation,” the RCMP says.

The arrested youth will appear in Windsor Provincial Court Dec. 6.

Police do not mention the name of the youth or the school. The child’s identity is protected under the Youth Justice Act.

The investigation continues.
