Two people were arrested after RCMP searched an illegal cannabis store on Lucasville Road.
RCMP learned of the store on Sunday, when Halifax Regional Police got a call about an aggravated assault, according to a news release.
Police say a man was armed with a knife when he assaulted a 30-year-old man from Beaver Bank at the store. The victim had serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. both men knew each other, police say.
The next day, both Halifax police and RCMP officers searched the storefront and seized illegal cannabis, including edibles, pre-rolled joints, resin, shatter, and vape products.
Police arrested a 51-year-old man from Annapolis Royal and a 59-year-old woman from Chester at the scene.
They face charges for possessing cannabis for distributing and selling under the Cannabis Act.
Both people were released on conditions and will return to court in December.
Both the assault and cannabis investigations are led by the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division from the Halifax Regional Police and RCMP.
“Officers remind residents that the only legal way to purchase cannabis in the province of Nova Scotia is at licensed locations,” police wrote in the release.
