Driver hit with multiple charges after images of speeding shared online

A 19-year-old driver has been charged with stunting after social media posts showed a car traveling at 197 km/h with alcohol visible in the vehicle.

Yarmouth RCMP received reports about the posts, which were shared by passengers, and located the car in Tusket. While a different person was driving when officers stopped the vehicle, police identified the driver from the posts.

The individual was ticketed for stunting, illegally possessing liquor, and violating learner’s permit conditions. The vehicle was impounded, and the driver’s license was suspended.

RCMP remind the public to report unsafe driving, whether seen in person or online, by contacting their local detachment or calling 911 in emergencies.
