Sydney man wins $1.3 million in firefighters 50/50

A Cape Breton man became a millionaire yesterday.

Norman MacQueen from Sydney won the Nova Scotia Firefighters 50/50 draw, which was valued at more than $1.3 million dollars.

Proceeds from the 50/50 go to fire departments across the province.

MacQueen bought his tickets from the Mira Road Volunteer Fire Department, so they get a $1000-dollar bonus.

Three others have won over a million dollars since 2022. The raffle gave away their largest pot ever last year, valued at $1.9 million.
