Lunenberg County senior seriously injured after he was run over

A Bridgewater man was run over on Friday while he was trying to get his car out of a snowbank.

Police say the incident happened at about 8:45 a.m. at the intersection of High Street and Victoria Road, when police learned that a person was stuck and trapped beneath a vehicle.

The 75-year-old Lunenburg County man was trying to clear snow from the vehicle when another vehicle hit his and ran the man over.

Police were the first to arrive at the scene and managed to free the man, but he suffered significant injuries.

EHS took the man to the South Shore Regional hospital, and then he was airlifted to the QE2 Hospital in Halifax, where he remains.

Bridgewater Police continue to investigate the incident, and they ask anyone who may have information or who may have witnessed the collision to contact police at 902-543-2464.
