Lunenburg Council to discuss daycare expansion

Lunenburg Council is set to discuss a request from the Lunenburg Daycare Centre (LDCC) on Tuesday for town-owned land to build a new facility.

The non-profit, which operates at full capacity with 113 licensed spaces, plans to add 96 more to address a waitlist of over 230 children.

Proposed sites include areas near the town’s recreation complex, the community centre, and Victoria Road. Each location offers different benefits and challenges, such as costs, accessibility, and potential impacts on existing town services.

Council will provide direction to staff to prepare a detailed report, which will be reviewed in January. The LDCC needs confirmation of support by mid-January to secure funding for the project.

More details on the project can be found on the agenda package for the upcoming Lunenburg Council meeting on Tuesday, January 7.
