Region of Queens, union ratify collective agreement

A deal has been reached for Region of Queens Municipality workers to return to the job.

Council announced a collective agreement has been ratified through 2027 with IBEU Local 1928.

It includes a retro-active four percent wage increase for the public works employees, as well as 2.5 percent increases over the next two years.

The employees ratified the deal on Tuesday.

The municipality locked out about 40 members of the union on January 9.

They say a back-to-work transition plan is in development, and temporary employees will be recruited back to work in the coming weeks.
