Man struck by off-duty police officer suffers serious injuries

The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) is investigating an incident involving an off-duty Halifax Regional Police Officer.

A man was struck on January 24, by a vehicle in Porters Lake, Nova Scotia, that was being driven by the officer.

SiRT says a preliminary investigation suggests that the man was standing next to a truck on the side of Myra Road when he was hit.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

SiRT adds that impaired driving has been ruled out.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, has dashcam footage or who was travelling on Myra Road between 12:40 pm and 12:55 pm on January 24, is asked to contact the investigator at 902-943-2337.
