Liverpool’s Sarah Mitton opened her competitive season with a strong performance in France.
She finished second in the women’s shot put at a World Athletics Indoor Tour event, recording a 19.75-metre throw.
Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands claimed first place, while Mitton finished ahead of world number one Chase Ealey who placed third.
Her next major competition is the Indoor Tour Final in Madrid on February 28.
In March, she will compete at the World Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted in China.
