It’s budget day in Nova Scotia

It’s budget day in Nova Scotia.

Finance minister John Lohr will table the Houston government’s budget for the 2025/26 fiscal year in the legislature Tuesday afternoon.

This comes after the capital budget was released last week, including record spending of $2.35 billion in healthcare, housing and infrastructure.

There’s also a plan to build two new schools to serve Dartmouth and Bedford.

The province will also cut the HST by one percent on April 1, and promised to take away bridge tolls.

The latest budget update in December showed a deficit of $247 million.

It’s the first budget of Houston’s ‘super-majority’ government, they won 43 seats in November’s election.
