A couple from Yarmouth have been banned from owning animals for seven years.
Sixty-nine-year-old Lorraine Bain and 73-year-old Herb Bain from Plymouth were charged in August for permitting an animal to be in distress.
The SPCA say a dog was found on the side of the road last June and brought into the shelter
The animal displayed significant signs of distress and later passed away due to long-standing health issues.
As part of their sentencing, the Bains were also ordered to write an apology letter to the Yarmouth SPCA for their treatment of staff during the investigation.
