Canada Post to unveil stamp honouring Brian Mulroney

A new postage stamp will feature our country’s 18th prime minister.

Canada Post will unveil its tribute to the late Brian Mulroney in Montreal Thursday, March 20th – on what would have been his 86th birthday.

Mulroney passed away in late February of 2024.

Born in Quebec, he we went on to study political science at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. He graduated from StFX in 1959 and remained one of the school’s greatest champions for the rest of his life.

Mulroney, a Conservative, served two terms as prime minister from 1984 to 1993.

According to a statement from the postal service, Mulroney is considered one of Canada’s most consequential prime ministers. He believed that Canadian democracy “is advanced by the collision of great ideas and the articulation of competing visions of the country.”
