Hillsview Acres closed to visitors due to enteric outbreak

Hillsview Acres Home for Special Care in Queens County has temporarily closed to non-essential visitors due to an enteric outbreak.

The Region of Queens confirmed the outbreak on March 25 and says the closure will remain in place until the home is cleared to reopen. No reopening timeline has been provided.

Enteric outbreaks typically involve gastrointestinal illnesses caused by viruses or bacteria. The region has not confirmed the number of cases or whether residents or staff have been affected.

The municipality says updates will be posted on its website and social media channels once the situation changes.

Hillsview Acres is a long-term care facility operated by the Region of Queens Municipality.
