Hit and run leaves woman with life-threatening injuries in Cape Breton

A 30-year-old-woman has suffering life-threatening injuries after a hit and run in Cape Breton.

The RCMP says they responded to a call about a collision 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday near the 3000 block of Kings Road in Portage. When they arrived at the scene, they found the woman in a ditch.

Police say a gray Dodge 3500 with a black dump box left the scene.

But a 41-year-old man turned himself into police later that morning.

He was arrested in Big Pond and charged with failing to stop after an accident that caused bodily harm, as well as a charge for aggravated assault.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

The man will appear in court on August 7.
