It was not the clean sweep the Moncton Wildcats were hoping for on their way to the Gilles-Courteau Trophy.
The host Rimouski Oceanic shut out the Wildcats 5-1 in game four of the QMJHL final on Thursday night.
Despite the loss — only Moncton’s second of the playoffs — the Wildcats still hold a commanding 3-1 series lead.
Rimouski opened the scoring early, just 64 seconds into the game and picked up four goals in the first period.
The lone goal for the Wildcats came from Julius Sumpf with just over three minutes left in the third period.
The teams return to Moncton for game five, which means the Wildcats will have the chance to win the league title on home ice.
Puck drop for Saturday night’s game at the Avenir Centre is at 7 p.m.
The Wildcats have already secured a spot in the national Memorial Cup championship as Rimouski is the host team.
