2 youth with serious injuries after hit and run in Fall River

Two young people have serious injuries after a hit and run in Fall River.

RCMP say it happened Friday around 10 p.m. on the 1400 block of Fall River Road.

A Dodge Ram collided with a dirt bike travelling in the same direction.

Two youth riders were taken to hospital, while a third was not hurt.

Officers found the Dodge Ram, believed to be the vehicle involved as a gas station nearby. The man who was driving showed signs of impairment but passed a breathalyzer test.

However, the 45-year-old from Fletchers Lake refused a standard field sobriety test and assaulted an officer during the arrest.

During a search, baggies with a white substance were found and seized.

The suspect was released but will appear in court at a later date to face charges of refusal to comply with a demand, assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest.
