Nova Scotia Health has issued a drug alert.
The health authority says they have received an unverified report of crack suspected to contain fentanyl in the Halifax area.
It is described as a white rock with bright pink specks.
The health authority warns that street drugs are unpredictable: you don’t know what is in them and you don’t know how strong they are.
According to the NSH website, fentanyl may be added to illicit drugs during their production without a customer’s knowledge.
The synthetic opioid is 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine.
