Motorcycle driver dead after crash with impaired driver in Cape Breton

A 40-year-old man is dead after a crash in Groves Point.

RCMP say it was around 7 a.m. Saturday on Highway 105 when a motorcycle and sedan collided.

The victim, from Bras D’Or was the only one on the motorcycle.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

The driver of the sedan, a 42-year-old from Sydney Mines, left the scene but was later found on Brady Drive.

He was showing signs of impairment and was taken to the detachment where he failed a breathalyzer. He was released on conditions to appear in court at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing but criminal charges are expected.
