Horses return to Ross Farm Museum after mistreatment

Four horses are back at a provincial museum after they were removed because of mistreatment.

Two were removed late last year and two were removed in January.

Horse experts and veterinarians said the stalls were too small for the horses to turn around, with no food, water or bedding.

They also had urine burns on their skin, and were being fed dairy rations, which is toxic to horses.

Some advocates were concerned the horses would be traumatized and started a petition to prevent them from returning.

But the farm says the shelters and pastures are now bigger, and they have improved daily care routines with vet recommendations, and the vet will make more frequent visits.

The horses will not give wagon rides this year so the horses can have a calm and healthy environment.
