Two dead after head-on crash near Shelburne

A man and a woman are dead after a head-on collision on Highway 103 near Shelburne.

RCMP say it happened at about 1:15 p.m. Monday afternoon near Birchtown.

Volkswagen Jetta and a yellow Ford F-150 collided, when crews arrived on scene, the truck was engulfed in flames.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 42-year-old woman from Clyde River, and the driver of the Ford, a 32-year-old man from Williamswood, were found dead on the scene. Both drivers were the only people in the vehicles.

The Department of Labour is part of the investigation because a work vehicle was involved.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene, and the highway was closed for several hours before reopening.
