SailGP nails down dates for Halifax in 2026

Dates have now been set for a global sailing competition that is coming back to Halifax.

According to the schedule for SailGP, they will take over the harbour June 20-21, 2026.

Ten, 50-foot catamarans, with 12 teams from around the world zip around the harbour with speeds that can reach 100 km/h.

The event was a huge success in 2024, with tickets that sold out within 12 minutes, bringing tens of thousands to the waterfront every day as well as millions of dollars to the economy.

SailGP was huge for Halifax and was the first-ever stop in Canada.

CEO Sir Russell Coutts said he was thrilled to be coming back here which is a “top fan favorite” on their calendar.
