Canada Day events taking place across South Shore

Canada Day 2025 is packed with community celebrations across the South Shore, with Bridgewater and New Germany both putting on programming throughout the day.

Bridgewater kicks off the day with a breakfast at the Legion from 8 to 11 a.m. The celebration continues at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre (LCLC) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a multicultural festival and kitchen party. Visitors can enjoy live music, dance performances, food trucks, henna, crafts, bouncy castles, and more. A 3-on-3 basketball tournament will run throughout the day, and families can cool off with a free outdoor swim at O’Regan’s Pool from noon to 3 p.m.

Meanwhile, New Germany is hosting it’s own slate of Canada Day events.

The day starts with a community breakfast at Pinehurst Community Hall from 7 to 10 a.m. At 10 a.m., a children’s parade takes place at the Rosedale Home for Special Care, themed “Nova Scotia: An Ocean Playground.” Ox pull registration runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m., with the pulls starting at 12:30 p.m.

The main parade lines up at 12:30 p.m. at New Germany Elementary School and begins at 2 p.m., with cash prizes for participants. From 4 to 10 p.m., the RC Legion Grounds host a massive garden party featuring vendors, food trucks, carnival-style games, bouncy castles, and live music from performers like Low Key, Riverside Ramblers, and Yesterday’s Wine. The night concludes with a fireworks display at 10 p.m., pending provincial burn restrictions.
