Man facing numerous charges after Eastern Passage incident

A man has been arrested after barricading himself inside a residence in Eastern Passage.

RCMP responded at around 3:35 pm on Friday to reports of a man trying to break into a home on Cow Bay Road.

When officers arrived, they learned that the man had gone to another home on Orion Drive and was refusing to leave.

Neighbours were asked to shelter in place, and a negotiator was brought in to assist.

After refusing to cooperate with the officer’s instructions and resisting arrest, a taser gun was used, and the man was taken into custody at around 8 pm.

A court date has been scheduled for July 7. The man is facing five counts of assaulting a peace officer, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of resisting arrest, two counts of resisting arrest and failure to comply with an undertaking.
