Creator of iconic Halifax venues dies

A well-known businessman who helped shape Halifax’s night life has passed away.

Pierros “Pete” Panagiotakos died July 11th.

According to his obituary, he was born in Greece and immigrated to Canada in 1959.

For over five decades, he and his brothers created venues including The Palace, Misty Moon, Secretary’s Pub and Marathon Grill

He acquired the Bluenose II Restaurant downtown in 1994 and transformed it into a popular tourist destination.

Panagiotakos was also an active member of the city’s Greek community.

He was 85.
