N.S. Special Olympic summer games underway in Antigonish

The Special Olympic Summer Games have kicked off in Antigonish.

StFX is hosting the annual event for over 1,000 athletes, coaches, staff and volunteers from Nova Scotia this weekend.

The athletes will compete in sports like bocce, rhythmic gymnastics, soccer, basketball, swimming and more.

It’s a qualifier for the national summer games in Medicine Hat, Alberta next year.

Special Olympics CEO Mike Greek says it’s a life changing event that produces lifelong memories.
