Condolences are pouring in from the hockey community in Nova Scotia after the tragic death of one its own young players.
Sixteen-year-old Noland Lillington died after a motorcycle crash on Main Street in Dartmouth, July 30.
Since, hockey communities all over the province have been paying tribute to the teen with posts on social media, showing support.
The Cole Harbour Minor Hockey Association says they are sending their “strongest love” and “thinking dearly” of Noland’s family.
“All of Noland’s teammates and coaches over the years will miss his easy-going personality and constant smile in the room, on the bench and the ice no matter how tough the games or practices got,” reads their post.
The association says the beloved player was with them for nine years.
“It’s hard not to write this with personal emotions, as I’ve been lucky enough to have coached ‘Nollie’ at U9, U11, U13, U15 and U18,” says the association.
“#6 Lillington will forever be etched on the ice and in our hearts every time we walk through those arena doors.”
Other associations are showing support through social media including the South Shore Lumberjacks Junior B Hockey Club who say they send their “deepest condolences” the Hockey Nova Scotia call the tragedy “heartbreaking” and the Dartmouth Whalers Minor Hockey Association say they send their most “heartfelt condolences”.
Meal Train
A Meal Train page has been set up to help support the Lillington family.
According to the page, the gesture is to help ease some of the “day to day burdens”.
“We’ve created this Meal Train as one small way we can show our care. Providing meals allows the family to focus on grieving and healing, while feeling the continued support of those around them,” says the page.
“Thank you for showing up with kindness and compassion for a family who means so much to us all.”
