N.S. to study future of passenger rail transportation

Could trains factor into transporation through Nova Scotia?

The province says they’re pursuing a passenger rail feasibility study.

They want to study light rail transit in Halifax and broader passenger rail for rural areas.

It’s part of the recently released Regional Transportation Plan.

Public Works minister Fred Tilley says it has the potential to reshape travel by providing a safe, reliable and high-capacity form of transit service.

He says it’s also very complex, and will take some time to develop.

Companies have until September 16 to submit their response.
