Long Lake wildfire grows to about 8500 hectares over the weekend.

The Long Lake wildfire in Annapolis County grew about 200 hectares over the weekend.

The Department of Natural Resources says it is still out of control at nearly 8500 hectares.

The southern area is the most active and the intensity increased with wind on Monday.

Helicopters were dropping water to help ground crews create a perimeter of fire breaks.

There are no new reports of damage in the fire, but 20 homes were lost last week.
