Province fields record number of FOIPOP requests

Nearly nine in 10 FOIPOP requests were completed in Nova Scotia last year.

That’s one of the best rates in Canada, according to a release from the province.

Service Nova Scotia says they managed a record-breaking 3,800 requests, 15 per cent more than the year before.

The largest request saw over 10,000 pages of records reviewed.

They say businesses and private individuals filed the highest number of requests.

There was an 80 per cent response rate within 30 days.

Minister Jill Balser says citizens deserve a government that’s responsive, transparent and accountable, and the team did an incredible job.
