A new bill tabled in the legislature will let municipalities lower property taxes for homes rebuilt after a natural disaster.
It includes 13 amendments to six pieces of existing legislation for things like infrastructure development.
The bill also includes legislation to create the Transportation Corridor Act.
Anyone with land on those areas or within 30 metres would be notified, but it means they would need a permit from the minister for any building or digging.
Other changes would allow municipalities to accept electronic payments for tax sales and allow returning officers to vote in municipal elections. They will also offer more options for elections notices beyond newspapers and changing some language to protect voter privacy, according to a news release.
