Fall sitting of legislature ends after just 8 days

After just 8 days, the fall session at legislature is over.

That’s the shortest fall sitting at Province House since 1986, according to a news release from the NDP.

MLAs and ministers returned to Province House on Tuesday last week and finished this afternoon.

Opposition and NDP leader Claudia Chender said it made a mockery of the house by stifling debate.

“This is a government that does not want to answer questions, that does not want to be accountable, that does not want to consult,” said Chender.

She such a short session meant they did not have enough time to cover serious issues like housing and high power bills.

However, Premier Tim Houston said it may have been short but it was efficient.

“Lots of good things happened in this session, lots of legislation that’s really important to Nova Scotians, and I’m proud of the work that was that was done,” said Houston.
