2nd man charged for hate crimes after antisemitic messages written in Halifax

A second man has been charged for hate crimes after antisemitic messages were found in Halifax last month.

Police say it was September 14 when they responded to six incidents of graffiti throughout the city.

Three were on Synagogues, the other three written on nearby sidewalks.

Yesterday, a 32-year-old from Halifax was arrested to appear in court Wednesday for:

  • Public Incitement of Hatred (x1)
  • Mischief related to religious property (x3)
  • Property damage (x3)

The first suspect, a 31-year-old man was arrested September 17 and appeared in court for:

  • Public Incitement of Hatred (x1)
  • Mischief related to religious property (x3)
  • Property damage (x3)

The incidents happened after the Davis Cup in Halifax between Canada and Israel which were surrounded by controversy due to Israels actions in Gaza.
