Former justice minister, Becky Druhan, leaves PC Caucus as Independent

The province’s former justice minister is now serving as an Independent MLA in Lunenburg West.

Becky Druhan made the announcement in a statement on social media, Monday afternoon.

It comes after Premier Tim Houston shuffled the cabinet last week dropping Druhan, Minister of Natural Resources Tory Rushton and Minister of Energy Trevor Boudreau.

Druhan says she is deeply proud of what she has been able to accomplish as education minister, justice minister and attorney general.

“While I continue to have great respect for my government colleagues, I believe I can best serve the people of Lunenburg West and Nova Scotia as an Independent voice,” says Druhan.

She adds that the change will allow her to put an even greater focus on the community.

“To spend more time here at home, listening, connecting and ensuring that your priorities and perspectives are fully reflected in my work,” adds Druhan
