Halifax man who hid in ceiling nabbed for breaking into business

A man faces break-and-enter charges after a little hide-and-seek in Lower Sackville.

RCMP responded to a commercial alarm at a Sackville Drive business at about 12:30 a.m. on October 29th.

Officers did not find anyone, but a door was unsecured, cash tills were on the floor, and there was damage to the washroom ceiling and toilet. There was also clothing left behind.

Investigators determined that someone had concealed themself in the ceiling and left the premises after closing hours.

Thanks to video surveillance, police tracked down and arrested the suspect that morning.

He is charged with the following:

  • Break and Enter with Intent
  • Mischief Not Exceeding $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

A 48-year-old Halifax man was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 12th.
