Foundation Targets Ultrasound Unit For Radiothon Fundraiser

The Health Services Foundation of the South Shore has identified their next piece of needed equipment.

The 2018 Radiothon will be trying to raise $150,000 to purchase a new ultrasound unit for the diagnostic imaging department at South Shore Regional Hospital.

Development Officer, Alison Clements, says it is high up on their priority list.

“Basically, these units have a lifespan of about eight years and ours is sitting at 10. People may ask why is it eight years? This is big equipment. It’s because it does 3,000 exams a year, at least.”

Clements says over time the equipment has deteriorated, affecting the quality of image produced and extending wait times.

She urges people to start fundraising immediately to make the 2018 Radiothon another success.

It will be held February 14.
