Tentative deal reached between MSVU, part-time faculty

Striking part-time faculty at Mount Saint Vincent University may be back to work on Monday.

A statement released by the university Friday morning said a tentative agreement was reached between MSVU and CUPE Local 3912 the previous night.

The statement, signed by MSVU vice-president administration Isabelle Nault, said union members were scheduled to vote on the deal by end of day Saturday.

If the agreement is ratified, the strike will end and suspended classes will resume Monday, Nov. 17.

The university’s senate will then meet to determine any changes to support students and faculty members affected by the disruption.

The deal comes about a day after CUPE 3912 reached a similar agreement at Saint Mary’s University.
