Man charged with impaired driving after fiery crash in East Hants

A woman was airlifted to hospital and a man charged with impaired driving after a fiery crash in East Hants.

RCMP say it was Sunday around 2:30 p.m. on Hwy 236 in Riverside Corner when a Honda Civic caught on fire after flipping multiple times, trapping the occupants inside.

When officers arrived on scene, a 21-year-old man from Three Mile Plains was arrested.

The passenger, a 20-year-old woman from New Minas had life-threatening injuries.

The driver was held in custody and is scheduled for court, Monday.

RCMP say impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of deaths on Nova Scotia roadways.
