Trailer Park Boys actor plea postponed to New Year in sex assault case

We will have to wait a little longer to learn what Mike Smith, better known as the character Bubbles in Trailer Park Boys, will plead in relation to a sexual assault charge.

The charge stems from an alleged incident in December 2017.

Lawyer Allan MacDonald appeared on Smith’s behalf on Wednesday morning at the Dartmouth Provincial Court.

MacDonald asked the judge to adjourn the case until later because they are still waiting for see some disclosure, meaning evidence related to the case, before they choose to plead either guilty or not guilty.

Prosecutor Nicole Ford explained that is quite common.

“We’re still early days, and that’s quite common for that to happen,” said Ford.

Smith’s next appearance is now set for Jan. 23 at 1:30 p.m.
