Cape Breton woman allegedly stole more than $30K from minor hockey association: police

A New Waterford woman has been charged for allegedly stealing more than $30,000 from a minor hockey association.

Cape Breton Regional Police got a complaint in June from the Alcohol, Gaming, Fuel and Tobacco Division of the Department of Service Nova Scotia.

They noticed some inconsistencies in the books after an audit for the New Waterford Hockey Association.

Through the investigation, police interviewed multiple parties, checked ticket sales, and reviewed financial records. Officers found the money went missing between September 2025 and February 2025.

And they narrowed their suspects down to one 57-year-old volunteer.

The woman will appear in court later this month on fraud and theft charges.
