Lumberjacks shutout East Hants in weekend showdown

The South Shore Lumberjacks added another statement win to their season this weekend, shutting out the East Hants Penguins 4–0 in front of a lively home crowd.

It was a complete performance from South Shore Lumberjacks, with balanced scoring, strong special teams play and a perfect night in net from Kegan Greencorn, who turned aside every shot he faced to earn the shutout.

Cohen Westlake opened the scoring, followed by goals from Nolan Wilkie, Evan Amirault and Landen Garber to round out the offence. Wilkie also added an assist for a two-point night and was named the game’s player of the game. Brandon Rideout and Leo MacLean each picked up an assist as well.

The win pushes the Lumberjacks to 14 wins in 16 games, good for second place in the league standings with 28 points. They now trail only the Colts, while staying ahead of the Penguins, who sit third.

Beyond the result on the ice, the night also carried a strong community feel with the team’s Teddy Bear Toss and Toy Drive, which brought in a large turnout from fans and a strong show of support for local families.

The Lumberjacks now turn their attention back to the road, where they’ll face the Sackville Blazers on Monday, December 8.

With just two losses so far this season and the league’s second-best points total, the Lumberjacks continue to establish themselves as one of the top teams to beat.
