New AI security screening will be at two Halifax-area hospitals in just a couple of days.
Nova Scotia Health says the new measures will be at the entrances to the QEII’s Halifax Infirmary and the Dartmouth General Hospital.
The technology will screen for weapons or anything that resembles a weapon or reasonably deemed capable of being used as a weapon and will not be allowed inside.
Security will be on hand to answer any questions or address concerns.
Visitors will no longer be permitted to enter the Halifax Infirmary via the pedway from the Abbie J Lane or Veterans Memorial buildings.
The new measures come after a pilot project in Truro in the spring at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre where more than 7,400 were screened in a two-week period.

About 12 hospitals across the province from Cape Breton to Yarmouth will receive the new measures.
The system will be installed at the remaining sites beginning in January.
