If You Want A Rebate On A Heat Pump, Time Is Running Out!

If you’ve been puttig off tossing the old oil furnace for a heat pump or two, you might want to get on the list now. The is ending the federal OHPA rebate program is ending early here in Nova Scotia! Some reports say the Federal funds will be out by Febuary so if you’re eligable get your name on the list now!

Efficancy Nova Scotia will still be accepting applications, as of now!

 

 

Who Is Eligible?

To qualify, you must:
  • Own and live in your home (primary residence)
  • Heat your home primarily with oil (at least 500L used in the past 12 months)
  • Meet income requirements (moderate-income thresholds apply)

What Does the Rebate Cover?

  • Purchase and installation of a cold-climate air-source heat pump
  • Electrical and mechanical upgrades
  • Oil tank removal
  • Backup heating setup
  • Conversion of other oil-dependent systems

How to Apply in Nova Scotia

Pre-Register

Start by applying through Efficiency Nova Scotia’s OHPA portal. This triggers your eligibility assessment for both federal and provincial rebates.

Gather Required Documents

  • Recent Notice of Assessment for all adults in the household
  • Proof of home ownership
  • Oil heating usage (fuel bills or receipts)

Home Energy Assessment

Once pre-approved, schedule an energy assessment to confirm your home’s suitability for a heat pump.

Choose an Eligible Installer

Select a contractor approved by Efficiency Nova Scotia to ensure compliance with program standards.

Complete Installation and Submit Paperwork

After installation, submit all required documentation within the specified timeline (usually 6 months from pre-approval).
