Marine Atlantic charters new ship for ferry service

Marine Atlantic, which operates the ferry service between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, has announced a five-year charter agreement with Stena to lease the vessel A Nepita.

The ship is ice-class rated and equipped to carry both passengers and commercial vehicles, with amenities like cabins and restaurants.

It will undergo modifications to fit Marine Atlantic’s docking infrastructure and is expected to arrive in Canada this summer, entering service in the fall.

The vessel was previously used on a European route between Marseilles and Corsica.

Marine Atlantic says the addition will increase overall capacity and improve service for customers.
