Air Canada crew member trapped below as plane prepares for takeoff

An Air Canada flight that passengers on board will never forget.

AC Flight 1502 was set to fly from Toronto Pearson International Airport to Greater Moncton Romeo Leblanc International Airport on December 13, 2025.

In a statement to our newsroom, Air Canada confirmed, “The aircraft cargo doors were inadvertently closed while a member of the ground crew was inside.”

As the plane was preparing for takeoff, some of the passengers reported they could hear someone banging and yelling from beneath.

“Upon discovery, the aircraft returned to the gate,” an Air Canada media spokesperson added.

Social media posts of airline staff explaining what happened have gone viral.

“There were no injuries, but as this presented a potential safety issue, we have reinforced our procedures with our ground crews,” Air Canada also stated in an email to our newsroom.
