When looking after your pet’s health you might be overlooking one of the most important parts.
Veterinarian Barry Falkenham says poor dental hygiene can have a huge impact on an animal’s health.
“It is the number one cause of disease in our pets,” he says, “and we don’t pay enough attention to it.
Falkenham says dogs need to have their teeth brushed at least a few times a week.
Cats can be trickier, but he says some foods can go a long way in helping keep their mouth clean.
He adds, just like people, your pets should have their teeth checked once a year by a vet.
The Bridgewater Veterinary Clinic is offering free check ups this month as part of Pet Dental Health Month.
